Ode to my Father - A Human Courage Campaign

You taught me how to chop wood,
and then showed me how to make fire.
You taught me how to read a map,
and then showed me how to drive.

When I told you I was going across the country
On a motorcycle by myself at age twenty,
You said have fun, and then set dates for when
I would call in, and along the way
you would send me money.

When I told you I was a lesbian, you said
"I know. I love you." And then you said,
"My best wish for you
is that you love someone and she loves you too."

And that's exactly what happened.
